Success is a staircase, NOT a doorway!

Have you ever had that moment where you make a goal for a few years down the road and you think it'll never get here, then you blink and it's 3 years after later and you think "wow that time flew by so fast"!!?
What about that moment you look back at old pictures and see when you cut your hair in that awful short bob that you hated and thought it would never grow back but now its 2 years after and your hair is down to your buttox!? Wow that time just flew by!
And my favorite, the time when you're gettimg ready to give birth to your first baby and you think they'll be tiny forever, then you blink and they're 3 1/2 and you can barely carry them to bed when theyre asleep because they're getting so big!
I've had all 3! Lots of times, but what I've come to realize about this journey in particular, is that success is a staircase, not a doorway! Meaning you can't make a decision to change your lifestyle and then get discouraged because you didn't wake up "perfect" the next morning! The decision is by far the easiest step to a healthier you!
So far, my biggest struggle has been exercise! I wake up pumped and ready for the day (most days lol) but by the time I get the kids up, get breakfast ready and eat, then get the husband off to work, I'm ready to sit and chill for a minute. Then, the next thing I know it's lunch time and kids are hollering I'm hungry! Then after lunch, I start preparing what we're going to have for dinner to have it ready by 5pm. Then, I try to put my youngest down for a nap (sometimes it works, sometimes it don't lol) and by the time I give up or she falls asleep, it's time to start cooking dinner.. then it's time to eat, then it's time to clean up, then showers, then bed! So on paper, my excuse looks a lot like most people's.. I just don't have the time to exercise.. but the reality is, I made myself a schedule and put exercise on it, there's no excuse anymore because now, I've made it a priority! That's truly all it takes! If you want to stop eating junk food, keep it out of the house and plan your meals. If you want to quit smoking, instead of buying cartons, buy 1 pack a day and then 1 pack a week and so forth and eventually, you won't want anymore and you're done!
Think about it like this (for those of you who have kids).. when you get ready to potty train your kid, do you just sit them down and say "ok, you're a big girl/boy now so you're going to start going in the big girl/boy potty okay?" and then poof, no more diapers or pullups or accidents? Heck no!! It takes weeks and sometimes months to potty train 1 child during the day and then you have to work on night time training! There will be times you tell yourself you can just wait until they're older because this obviously isn't working. Or times you want to give up completely and run away (jk...kinda) lol. But for your child, he/she is learning that permanent things take time and understanding!!
Wanna know about a big lie?? "Good things come to those who wait" LIES! Good things come to those who are willing to work for them! Anything less is unacceptable! I could use many many scenarios in this but the truth and reality is that there is no magic pill that will come along someday and fix your ailments..there is no body that will come along and say you know what, I'll do all the hard work for you and you can just reap the benefits! You know why? Because you only reap what you sew! Truth bomb! Lol
Much love y'all! Until next time,
Kay

I love this chick!!
